What sort of food choices or diet does one have to consider incase of Hypertension ?

The first dietary recommendation in case of Hypertension is to start following a DASH diet. DASH stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. DASH diet typically consists of eating a diet that is rich in whole grains , vegetables , fruits and low-fat dairy products. DASH diet also suggests minimal use of saturated fats and non-vegetarian foods rich in cholesterol. Also one needs to avoid excessive salt intake when suffering from Hypertension. In short the DASH diet emphasizes foods high in fiber , protein , potassium , magnesium & low in saturated fat , sugar , salt and all sorts of processed foods.
